A Bright Flavorful Merlot from Calmasino, Italy

We loaded up with several bottles of this tasty Italian Merlot at our local wine garage - Wine Merchants' Gourmet - at $6 a bottle. That's a steal. If you're paying closer to the market price of $15, this isn't a wine you necessarily have to fight to grab off the shelf.

Nevertheless, it looks and tastes great in the Spring when sitting on your patio while the last rays of the days' sunshine bring out its ruby red colors. It's got a light, bright nose of various ripe, red fruits. Perfect for a warm Spring or Summer afternoon, accompanied by a cold pasta, salad, or your choice of meat off the barbie.
