A good time was had by all as we welcomed the Stebbins to our humble little excuse to drink too much wine! Thanks to Nicole and Brian for opening up their home and their bottle of Washington State's Bridgman Cab to open the night with a delicious bang!

Carmenère wine was thought to be extinct for years after phloxerra destroyed the grapes throughout Europe. It was recently found in Chile where their geographic isolation allowed it to flourish...
Here are the results from this past week's wine club featuring Chilean. It was a very excellent night for wine tasting... not a bad one in the bunch! read more »

This month we tasted "Sexy" Red Wines. The definition of a sexy wine was left up to personal interpretation.
It was an unpredictable tasting experience and nothing really took the cake as a wine to love or hate. So, while not a great night, it was a good night of wines. Plus, sitting outside on a nice spring evening is always nice!

This month we tried to drink Ciro from Southern Italy but seeing as how only one could be found in all of Winston Salem - SHOCKER - we ended up with Southern Italian wines. These were dry reds that most of us enjoyed a lot!
Alex and Michelle went home with the bull this week for bringing the winning wine.

As has come the wine club tradition here in Winston-Salem, every December we celebrate with everyone bringing their favorite red wines (could be a past club favorite or could be a personal fave). As always we brown bag them all, shuffle the mix and then letter the choices. For this special occasion, we also bring gifts for a white elephant gift exchange and we gather with the expectation of excellent wines and thus, more drinking than the average Monday night wine club. read more »
This month we drank Sangiovese (same grape as Chianti per Stacie).

This week we tasted the very dry French wine varietal Cabernet Franc. There was a surprising NC entry that did even more than surprisingly well - we did not smell or taste it coming... in the past NC wines have always gone to the bottom of the list with a distinctive smell that gave it away but today, nothing made any wine stand too far above the others Although a few did fall to the bottom

Tonight we drank Fume Blanc (same grape as Sauvignon Blanc according to our friends at Wine Merchants Gourmet).
