This month we tried to drink Ciro from Southern Italy but seeing as how only one could be found in all of Winston Salem - SHOCKER - we ended up with Southern Italian wines. These were dry reds that most of us enjoyed a lot!

Alex and Michelle went home with the bull this week for bringing the winning wine.

In order of drinking, not ranking:

  1. Tenuta del Portale, Starsa, Basilicata, 2005, $12
  2. Librandi, Ciro, Rosso Classico, 2006, $13 (tied for 2nd favorite wine)
  3. Sipavola, Rosso de Sicilia, 2006 (65% Nero d'Avola/35% Cab Sauv), $10
  4. Cusumano, Nero d'Avola, Sicilia, 2006, $14 (top wine by a landslide- bought at City Beverage)
  5. Enzo di Sette Rue, Nero d'Avola, 2004, $11 (tied for 2nd favorite wine)
  6. Terrazzo, Sangiovese, 2006 (60% Sangio/40% Montepulciano), $14

NEXT MONTH:

May 5 - Cinco de Mayo at Carrie's house on May 5th! Red and white sangrias to be featured.

May 19 - Wine Club at Michelle and Alex's house for "sex-themed reds"! Yep - you read that right kids, we will be drinking red wines that are inspired by sex in some way, shape or form.... the interpretation if up to you!
