The winner of the tasting was #4, Greg Norman Estates - Limestone Coast 2003, picked by Santiago. The wine hasn’t been rated but Wine Spectator said of the 2001 vintage (rated 89), "Supple and generous, with nicely focused plum and pretty spice character, juicy acidity but not so much that it feels tart. It's just a welcoming balance that wants food to complete the picture. Drink now through 2008.”
Incidentally, we happened to have a bottle of the 2001 vintage, of course, we opened it and I was amazed at how different vintages of the same varietal & winery can taste.
Even though the winner was the one with the highest ticket, I would like to point out that the most affordable candidate, Little Penguin 2003, won the 2nd place. I hope that everyone enjoyed being able to taste a number of different wines and flesh out your personal taste in a fun, relaxing environment!
