Spanish Reds: All They're Cracked up to be?

This particular wine tasting club was held at our friend Carrie's place. Great wine, great company, and some fun times exploring old newspapers (from the 1940's) used to insulate pipes in the basement.

Without further ado, here are the tasting results for our Spanish reds evening:

Spanish Reds: Tasting Results

  1. Castillo de Monjardin Deya Merlot 2004 (Wine Merchants Gourmet for $10) [D]
  2. Camparron Seleccion 2008 ($10 Tempranillo) [C]
  3. Ergo (2007 Tempranillo) ($12 at Harris Teeters) [B]
  4. Vilosell (2006) ($12 at City Beverage) [E]
  5. Tempra Tantrum (2008) (Tempranillo/ Cabernet) ($8 at Harris Teeter) [E]

The Castillo de Monjardin Deya was the overriding favorite of the night. Despite it's cute name, all the Tempra Tantrum did was make the purchaser of the wine want to throw one Eye-wink

Tune in next time for more wine tasting results, and get ready for more in-depth reviews of all of the above Spanish reds.
