Spain is known for its long history of winemaking. One of its most popular offerings are red wines from the Rioja region. In spite of its fame, Rioja is actually a small region by comparison. Other wine regions produce high-quality wines as well; however, not all of the wines produced in large quantities in other regions are anything to write home about. Red Zinfandel wine is a classic American wine that many believe originally came from native California grapes. However, research has revealed that originally, the grape actually came from Croatia and became famous in Italy during the Roman Empire.

Everyone enjoyed a vegetarian feast at Michelle & Alex's house this time around and there was not a dump cup to be found for these delectable red wines. And after the wine was tasted and revealed in all it's glory, the night deteriorated or escalated, depending on who you ask, to the basement for ping pong and more fun times with friends.

Here are the results from last month's wine club. Generally the December event includes a lot more wine, white elephant gift swap games and good time with friends, and this year was no exception - including a surprise holiday wine - Hot Mulled Red Wine with an Ecuadorian recipe. read more »
